Picasso Inspired Self Portraits

Third graders learned about the artist Pablo Picasso and looked at his different styles. They compared his Cubist style to some of his other periods and discussed how his artwork changed over time. Focusing on his cubist portraits, students began drawing their faces in two different views. While looking in a mirror, they drew their facial features in both the front facing view and in profile. Then they combined the two in their final Picasso portrait. They used sharpie marker, watercolors, and paper collage for the borders.
